Plastic Flap Doors

AKON’s Plastic Flap Doors are an excellent alternative to solid-panel doors. They are made of clear and transparent strips that are widely used at dock doors and other doorways. The plastic flap doors will reduce heat or cold loss through doorways while protecting workers and reducing noise. Vinyl strips allow natural light in dark areas and ease of access. Heavy duty PVC strips have excellent optical clarity. These clear PVC flaps allow forklift and people traffic to come and go with ease. Build your strip curtain kit in 5 easy steps below. Improve Facility Access and Energy Efficiency with Industrial Plastic Flap Doors

The Efficiency Challenges of High-Traffic Openings

In fast-paced warehouse and commercial environments, doorways are constant points of friction. Traditional doors are often left propped open to accommodate high-frequency pedestrian or trolley traffic, creating a direct path for heated or cooled air to escape. This "open-door" policy leads to soaring energy bills and inconsistent internal temperatures that can compromise the comfort of personnel or the integrity of temperature-sensitive stock. Furthermore, unprotected openings allow for the unhindered ingress of external pollutants such as dust, birds, and insects, making it difficult to maintain the hygiene standards required in food preparation, pharmaceutical, or clean-room environments.

Hands-Free, Self-Sealing Environmental Barriers

Our plastic flap doors provide a rugged, professional-grade solution designed to provide a constant environmental seal without impeding the flow of traffic. As a specialized application within our PVC strip curtains range, these systems consist of heavy-duty, flexible PVC sections that yield effortlessly to any person or vehicle passing through. Because the flaps are engineered to return to their original position immediately after use, they ensure that the opening is sealed for the maximum amount of time possible. This "hands-free" operation is essential for maintaining momentum in logistics and retail operations where speed and hygiene are paramount.

Strategic Benefits of Industrial Flap Door Systems

  • Significant Energy Retention: Acting as a high-performance thermal barrier that stabilizes internal climates and reduces the workload on HVAC systems, leading to substantial cost savings.
  • Advanced Contaminant Isolation: Providing a physical shield against airborne dust, fumes, and pests, ensuring that sensitive internal zones remain protected from external environmental factors.
  • Enhanced Visibility and Safety: Manufactured from high-clarity, transparent PVC to ensure that personnel have a clear view of oncoming traffic from the other side, drastically reducing the risk of workplace collisions.
  • Durable All-Weather Performance: Constructed from UV-stabilized, abrasion-resistant materials that remain flexible even in cold storage or external applications, ensuring long-term reliability in demanding conditions.
Measuring

Step 1 – Width x Height

  • Measure the width and the height of the door
opening or area where you want to install the
    strips.
  • Add 152 mm more in total height and add 152mm total in width
    if you want wall
    mount hardware

Step 2 – Choose Your Hardware

  • Decide on the type of mounting that best fits
    your application

    • Wall mount is preferred on doorways. This gets
the hardware out of the doorway and allows the
strips to overlap the door jambs for maximum
      seal and air lock.
    • For in-jamb use header mount, simply order the
exact size you need to span the opening.
    • Universal mount can also be used when you are
      not sure.
