Common Questions
Which material should I choose?
If you are trying to choose between the 18oz and 12oz vinyl materials, please choose based on your environment. For regular weather conditions, 12 oz. vinyl is a great material at a slightly less expensive price. If you are going to experience heavy weather conditions such as heavy snow, heavy rain, and lots of wind, then please choose the 18 oz. vinyl material.
What is the most common material?
The 18 ounce vinyl is used to make 90% of the covers ALCO offers. Even though both materials are equally strong and look the same, the majority of customers pick the thicker material.
Are they easy to clean?
Yes. Contrary to other polyester covers that resemble canvas, vinyl is a material that is extremely slick and is therefore simple to clean. Canvas will capture and hold mold and stains that are difficult to remove, as opposed to the sleek ALCO Vinyl custom furniture covers.
How strong are the covers?
18 oz vinyl is a very strong and long-lasting material, in fact, it is the same material that is used on the semi trailers to cover their cargo! As you can imagine, the abuse the material can endure on the highway is extreme, and if they didn't hold up, the truckers would not use them. That is why 18 oz vinyl is one of the strongest covers that you can purchase.
My cover will be used indoors. Which material is ideal?
The 600D material is the perfect material for indoors or even outdoors if its mostly in the shade and not in harsh conditions.

Water-Resistant Seams
When buying custom industrial fit covers, you want to be sure they will keep your possessions safe, clean, and dry. But did you know that when you sew, the holes the needle creates in the fabric can leave your cover susceptible to leaks? Big box stores don't tell you their covers can leak at these stitching points in heavy rain. So, at the seams, you can get drip marks on your product. That is why ALCO offers water-resistant stitching sealing, which covers the stitching on the inside of the cover so rain and moisture can't get in and damage your furniture.
Our Covers Are Water-Resistant
While our covers use high-grade vinyl to stop water pools from penetrating them. While we can prevent water from getting inside, we cannot guarantee moisture from seeping in from under the covers. To avoid trapped moisture, choose a cover that fits snugly while being slightly shorter than the item you are covering - typically around 5–8 cm shorter - to allow for air circulation and prevent condensation.
Use Vinyl And Not Fabric Covers
The best protection against water is found in vinyl covers, which ALCO specializes in. Vinyl allows water droplets to bead up and slide down the industrial cover before they have time to soak through due to the slick surface. Polyester blends are also common, but their waterproofing treatment can wear off or end up becoming brittle and then cracking. This allows water that sits on the cover to drip through, so the cover stays wet after it rains. The resulting exposure could mean you spend even more on a new cover or replacing or fixing damaged products. Nearly every custom made industrial cover on the market claims it is waterproof, but when put to the test, most people find that “waterproof” means it only stands up to a slight drizzle. When the rain really starts to fall, your products can get soaked. It is important that you pick a material that can withstand heavy rain. Alco offers these high-grade vinyls that holds up to the elements!
Tie Downs
Standard off the shelf industrial covers often are lacking ties to secure them. But what happens when the weather is accompanied by high or gusty winds? With no means of keeping the cover tied down or tightened at the base the cover could blow away. If you are not around at the time your cover could be blow away and the product exposed to the elements. This could result in thousands of dollars in damage and the need to replace the product. For this reason, it’s important to ensure you purchase industrial covers that provide secure ties.

Cover Splits
Some products can be hard to wrap a cover around unless it has a slit to allow you some wiggle room for installation. We offer a Velcro or zipper split, depending on your preference.

These custom covers are fantastic. The process was simple, some measurements, sent some pics and chose my color, etc.. These are custom, so they didn't arrive 2 days later, but when they did arrive, fit like a glove and are certainly the best quality cover I have had. More expensive?? Yeah, they were. Worth it?? Definitely. I'm in south Louisiana with tons of sunlight, tons of rain, tons of humidity and these covers are great. I know I will be extending the life of my outdoor furniture by years and I know these covers will last for years.

FINALLY, a cover that is well worth the price! We live in Southern California where the sun can do some damage. I don’t know how many other covers I’ve been through since we’ve had the firepit that just fell apart after a few months. This one is the real deal! Fits perfectly, very durable, you get to pick your color, and it withstands the sun and recent heavy rains!

Common Questions
Outdoor Furniture Covers – Frequently Asked Questions
What are custom outdoor furniture covers and who are they for?
They’re bespoke protective covers. Our custom outdoor furniture covers fit patio sets, sofas, sectionals, BBQ islands, and more for residential and commercial spaces. You choose shape, dimensions, material, and tie-downs for a snug, weather-resistant fit that improves longevity, cleanliness, and curb appeal on patios, decks, and terraces.
How do I measure outdoor furniture for a perfect fit?
Measure precisely. Record width, depth, and height in inches and include protrusions like arms or backs; we add slack for fit (not on height). Note any curves or modular gaps. Exact measurements help the cover drape cleanly, reduce wind lift, and ensure easy on/off without scraping frames or cushions.
Which material should I choose: 600D polyester, 12oz vinyl, or 18oz vinyl?
Match to conditions. 600D polyester is light, great for shaded patios and occasional rain. 12oz vinyl suits regular weather with simple cleaning and solid durability. 18oz vinyl is heavy-duty for harsh exposure, frequent storms, or high traffic. All options are water-resistant with smooth, wipe-clean surfaces.
Are these outdoor furniture covers waterproof and UV resistant?
Yes, they are. Our vinyl options provide excellent waterproofing and UV resistance; 600D polyester is water-resistant with dependable sun protection. Proper tie-downs help shed water and prevent pooling. Regular cleaning maintains performance and keeps your patio furniture dry, shaded, and looking great season after season.
How does 18oz vinyl perform in windy, wet, or snowy weather?
It excels. The 18oz vinyl is a rugged, long-lasting material that resists tearing, sheds rain and snow, and stays secure with tie-downs. Reinforced seams and smooth surfaces reduce grime buildup. Choose it for exposed rooftops, coastal decks, or winterized patios where durability and stability are essential.
Is 600D polyester durable enough for everyday patio use?
Yes, in mild conditions. 600D polyester is light, easy to handle, and ideal for shaded or partially covered patios. It protects against dust, drips, and routine weather. For frequent storms, intense sun, or heavy abrasion, upgrade to 12oz or 18oz vinyl for greater longevity and simpler maintenance.
Can I add grommets, straps, or cover splits for easier access?
Absolutely. You can specify reinforced grommets, adjustable straps, and practical cover splits for doors, grills, or cable routes. These features reduce wind billow, improve drainage, and let you access storage or controls without removing the cover—ideal for outdoor kitchens, sectionals, and modular patio seating.
How do I clean outdoor furniture covers?
It’s easy. Wipe with mild soap and water; the smooth vinyl and coated fabrics release dirt and pollen quickly. Avoid harsh solvents or abrasive pads to protect the finish and seams. Regular rinsing prevents mildew stains, preserves color, and keeps your custom patio cover looking fresh all year.
Will the cover trap moisture or cause mold on cushions?
No, when used correctly. Fit the cover snugly, secure tie-downs, and allow airflow at the base to reduce condensation. Store damp cushions separately if soaked. Routine cleaning prevents organic buildup. These simple steps help keep cushions dry, minimize mildew, and maintain fabric and foam integrity.
What lead time and shipping options are available?
They’re quick. Custom outdoor furniture covers typically ship in about 10–12 working days after order confirmation. Standard shipping is available, with free delivery above qualifying order values. Your cart shows costs and timelines so you can plan installs, seasonal changeovers, and project schedules with confidence.
Do the covers come with a warranty?
Yes, they do. Material warranties align with your selection—vinyl options carry robust coverage and 600D polyester includes dedicated protection. Warranty terms support workmanship and help safeguard your investment against defects. Check the product details or contact support to confirm coverage for your chosen fabric.
Can I upload photos or drawings to help with my order?
Yes, please. Upload reference images, sketches, or CAD snapshots to highlight arms, backs, burners, or protrusions. Clear visuals help us confirm dimensions, recommend the best material, and place seams or splits wisely. This speeds production and ensures your custom cover fits beautifully the first time.
Are these covers safe to use around grills, heaters, or fire pits?
Use with care. Keep covers away from open flames, hot surfaces, and active burners; allow equipment to cool fully before covering. Heat can damage fabrics and pose safety risks. Consider cover splits or clearance where needed, and follow your appliance manufacturer’s safety and ventilation guidance.
How do I prevent wind lift and water pooling on large sectionals?
Secure and shape. Use grommets or straps to anchor low points and create slight pitch so water runs off. Add splits for access and tension, and store cushions separately during extreme storms. Proper fit and tie-downs minimize ballooning, reduce pooling, and keep your outdoor sectional protected.
How do I request a quote or get design help?
It’s simple. Use the quote tool or contact our team with dimensions, photos, and desired features. We’ll confirm measurements, recommend 600D, 12oz, or 18oz materials, and suggest tie-downs for your patio layout. Clear guidance makes ordering fast and ensures a tailored, long-lasting outdoor cover solution.
