OVERVIEW
With AKON's range of wind-proof curtains you can greatly extend the working life of your investment. These curtains feature a unique anchor system that reinforces them from the steel track down to the concrete floor. This anchoring system, combined with reinforced trolleys, delivers unmatched strength for exposed, windy locations. Fitting is quick, and side-to-side movement is available with our industrial curtain tracks.
UK coastal and elevated sites face some of the most demanding wind conditions in Europe. Our super-duty curtain system was developed specifically for environments where standard curtain fixings would fail within months. Distribution centres near the Bristol Channel, ferry terminals on the south coast, and highland agricultural buildings all benefit from this heavy-duty approach.
Now With Clear Vision Panel Option
If you would like a clear line of sight, we now offer a clear vision panel with our super-duty wind-blocking curtains. This panel lets you see out of your enclosed area for a better view and more natural light. All components on the curtain remain exactly the same, with the addition of this clear vision panel. The clear panels are very popular with our residential and commercial customers across the UK.
Vision panels are particularly useful in loading bay applications where forklift drivers need to see approaching traffic or pedestrians before opening the curtain. The thick, cold-crack-resistant vinyl we use for these panels stays clear even after repeated exposure to frost and low winter temperatures.
Control Your Enviroment
Easy to Fit
Outdoor curtains arrive with grommets at the top, making hanging quick and simple with or without a curtain track system.
Cost-Effective
Outdoor curtains cost roughly a third of alternative separation methods such as rigid walls or panel systems, and they store away easily.
Temperature Control
Maintain steadier temperatures inside for a more comfortable working environment, then pull the curtains open when not needed.
Wind Blocking
Keep wind and rain out when the weather turns, yet still pull the curtain open when conditions improve or you need access.
Enclose Large Work Areas
Reinforced For Strength
Webbing
- Heavy-duty mildew-resistant webbing
- Runs the entire length from top to bottom
- Reinforces the super-duty curtain throughout
- Spaced every 1.2 m for superior strength
Anchors
- Super-duty anchor plates attach to the webbing
- Straps pass through the D-rings for secure fastening
- Anchors bolt into the concrete for wind-load resistance
- Can be driven over or countersunk for heavy traffic areas
HD Rollers
- Quad steel rollers spaced every 1.2 m
- Rated for 57 kg of force each
- Bolted to the webbing for stress-point relief
- Galvanised outdoor-rated curtain track
Mesh (optional)
- Optional wind mesh panels for additional wind relief
- Optional back flap fitted on the reverse side of mesh
- Flap blocks the breeze but allows stronger gusts through
- If no mesh is needed, the curtain can be entirely solid
Easy Glide Track
Unmatched Performance
There are currently no competitively priced curtains on the market that genuinely perform as outdoor super-duty curtains in windy areas, though many claim to. Inferior products use grommets that rip out because they lack proper webbing reinforcement. AKON super heavy-duty outdoor curtains are engineered based on our direct experience of how curtains fail in the field over years of real-world use. We have developed a wind-blocking curtain that transfers stress away from the curtain material and back onto the hardware, preventing tearing and curtain failure.
In the UK trade, we regularly see customers who have already tried cheaper alternatives and found them shredded after one winter storm. Our anchor-and-webbing system is designed so that the weakest point in the assembly is still stronger than the peak wind loads at most British industrial sites.
Outdoor Curtain Strength
This super heavy-duty outdoor curtain features an optional mesh section in the middle to allow some wind to pass through, reducing stress on the curtain. The mesh also has an optional back flap to help control free-flowing breeze when conditions are calmer.
We triple-stitch heavy-duty webbing straps vertically every 1.5 m the full length of the curtain, from the roller hooks all the way down to the anchor plates. This transfers the majority of the stress away from the curtain material and onto the hardware at the top and bottom. The quad steel wheel rollers are each rated for 57 kg of force. Anchor plates at the bottom bolt into your concrete and also provide exceptional strength for wind loads.
On exposed UK sites, particularly those near the coast or on industrial estates with open fetch, wind speeds can regularly exceed 80 km/h during winter storms. This curtain system is built to handle those conditions without the webbing or fixings giving way.
