Simple Installation
Top-edge grommets and a straightforward track system mean you can hang a new garage curtain in well under an hour with basic tools.
Cost-Effective
Garage door curtains typically cost around a third of the price of rigid roller doors or panel systems, and they store flat when not in use.
Keep Out Insects
Enjoy an open garage without the flies, wasps, and midges. A curtain barrier lets fresh air circulate while keeping pests firmly outside.
Reduce Noise
Thick PVC curtain material absorbs and deflects sound, helping to contain workshop noise and keep neighbours happy.
Style 1 - Curtain Track
Our most popular garage door curtain option uses 16-gauge galvanised steel tracks that mount directly inside the door opening. The curtain spans the full width and height of the doorway, yet slides back in seconds when you need vehicle access. Heavy-duty PVC materials make these curtains suitable for commercial workshops, trade units, and residential garages across the UK and Ireland. They stand up to wind, rain, and temperature swings common in British and Irish weather.
Installation requires only basic hand tools and typically takes under an hour. An optional clear vinyl window panel can be added for natural light and visibility. The track layout can be configured as a single straight run or with multiple sides to suit L-shaped or corner openings.
Frequently Asked Questions
1. Where does the curtain track mount?
The curtain track is normally fitted inside the door jamb. This keeps the track clear of any existing roller door mechanism. If you do not have a roller door, there is more flexibility — the track can sit in the jamb or further inside the garage.
2. What is the stack-up of the curtain when retracted?
When the curtains are pulled back, they occupy roughly 15 cm per side of the track, or about 30 cm in total width.
3. How much space do the curtains take up when stored?
Roughly 8 cm of depth when folded back. Example: a 3-metre-wide curtain would stack to about 75 cm.
Style 2 - Curtain Only
Already have your own track or mounting hardware? You can order a curtain panel on its own, without tracks or fixings. Choose from ten colour options, two industrial vinyl weights (18 oz and 22 oz), and fully custom dimensions.
Mounting grommets can be placed along the top, bottom, or side edges to suit your fixing method. A bottom pocket is also available — thread a steel bar or chain through it (not supplied) to add ballast weight and improve the curtain’s hang in draughty openings.
Style 3 - Roll Up
Roll-up garage door curtains offer a tidy, space-saving alternative. A simple pull-cord pulley raises the curtain into a compact roll at the top of the opening, leaving the doorway completely clear for vehicle access or deliveries. When lowered, the curtain provides the same draught-proofing and thermal benefits as our track-mounted options.
Because the curtain stores overhead, it is an excellent choice for busy workshops where floor space is at a premium. Like all our garage curtains, the roll-up version resists rot, mould, and mildew — and is made to your exact measurements.
Choose From 4 Materials
Garage Door Curtain Materials
Four material families cover virtually every garage application:
- Opaque vinyl is available in 13 oz, 18 oz, and 22 oz weights. It blocks draughts, light, and dust while remaining easy to wipe clean — a practical choice for workshops and storage areas.
- Clear PVC comes in 20 mil, 40 mil, and 40 mil food-safe grades. Transparent panels let daylight flood in and give you a clear sightline to the driveway without sacrificing weather protection.
- Insulated curtains incorporate thermal padding that reduces heat transfer — ideal for garages used as workshops during cold UK winters or for protecting temperature-sensitive goods.
- Mesh allows free airflow while forming a sturdy barrier against insects and small debris. Particularly useful in summer months when you want ventilation without inviting midges and flies inside.
Anchor Your Garage Door Curtains
Floor Anchors
Optional floor anchors hold the bottom edge of the curtain firmly in place during gusty weather. D-rings are fixed to the garage floor at roughly 120 cm intervals, and Velcro straps loop through them to secure the curtain.
Note: in very strong winds the Velcro straps may release. If high winds are forecast, push the curtain slightly inward to create slack and reduce wind loading.
Need Strip Curtains?
Garage Strip Curtains
Clear PVC strip curtains let you walk freely between garage bays without pulling back a full curtain panel. Individual strips part on contact and fall back into place, making them ideal for areas with constant foot traffic. The strips are crystal clear, easy to replace individually if one becomes worn, and they maintain a reasonable thermal barrier.
Please note: strip curtains are not recommended for vehicles to drive through, as they may scratch paintwork.
Temperature Control
Insulated Garage Door Curtains
For garages that double as home offices, hobby rooms, or detailing bays, an insulated garage door curtain makes a significant difference to comfort and running costs. A quilted thermal layer traps warm air in winter and keeps heat out in summer, cutting energy bills without permanent structural changes.
The curtain hangs from ceiling to floor and seals against the side walls with Velcro strips, creating a near-airtight barrier. Several material thicknesses and colour options are available so you can balance thermal performance with the look you want.
Bug-Free Garage
Insect Mesh Curtain Screens
Custom mesh curtain screens are a practical way to keep flies, mosquitoes, and other insects out of your garage without sacrificing ventilation or daylight. They attach around the garage opening using twist locks, grommets, or press-stud fasteners.
Each screen is made to the exact dimensions of your doorway, creating a snug seal that stops insects while letting a breeze pass through freely. An insect mesh screen turns a standard garage into a comfortable workspace, home gym, or social area on warm summer evenings — without the cost or permanence of a fixed screen door.
