Industrial Curtain Walls

OVERVIEW

Our heavy-duty industrial curtain walls glide effortlessly on roller hooks, opening and closing in seconds. These retractable vinyl partitions are typically installed at roughly a third of the cost of a permanent rigid wall and take a fraction of the time to fit. Designed for UK warehouses, distribution centres, and production facilities, they provide immediate separation for temperature control, dust containment, noise reduction, and workspace zoning. Every curtain wall is custom made to your exact dimensions and delivered ready to hang.

Rapid Access in Any Size

AKON industrial curtain walls offer a cost-effective answer to dust, temperature, and workspace zoning challenges. They can serve as either a temporary measure or a long-term partition that looks clean and professional. Each curtain glides open on roller hooks, giving operatives instant access without lifting or folding heavy panels. Widths and heights are fully customisable, and multiple curtain runs can be joined to span even the largest warehouse bays.

More Affordable Than Fixed Walls

Simple Installation

Industrial curtains arrive with grommets along the top edge, making it fast and easy to hang them with or without the curtain track system.

Cost-Effective

Industrial curtain walls cost roughly a third of the price of rigid partition systems or permanent walls, and they can be taken down and stored whenever the space is needed for other uses.

Separate Operatives

Industrial curtain walls are ideal for separating operatives carrying out welding, washing, packaging, and many other processes.

Control Noise

The thick PVC construction of our industrial curtains helps absorb and attenuate noise, creating a more comfortable working environment for nearby staff.

Ideal for Many Applications

Access Points for Forklifts

Although industrial curtains are designed to retract and open with ease, there are situations where a permanently fixed curtain wall is the better choice. In those installations it is essential that pedestrian and forklift traffic can still pass through. AKON provides several access options, including strip-door openings, overlap sections, and Velcro-sealed walk-through panels, so vehicles and personnel move freely without compromising the barrier.

Strip Curtain Access Points

Strip doors are a cost-effective addition to large vinyl curtain walls. Constructed from 20 cm wide PVC strips, they are crystal clear and remove the need to pull back the main curtain wall each time someone passes through. A typical opening measures 90 cm wide by 180 cm high, although custom sizes are readily available. The strips part on contact and fall back into position automatically, maintaining the environmental seal.

Create Work Zones or Divide Storage

Industrial curtain walls provide a fast, practical way to form dedicated work cells or partition storage areas. In a facility running several different processes under one roof, curtain walls carve out clearly defined zones, reducing cross-contamination and improving workflow. They are equally effective at separating ambient goods from temperature-sensitive stock in distribution centres.

Vinyl Curtain Walls Improve Workflow

Industrial curtain walls deliver a rapid, practical installation for dividing warehouse space or establishing dedicated work zones. In a facility with multiple processes running side by side, these partitions create clearly defined areas that keep operatives focused and materials organised. The retractable design means layouts can be reconfigured as production demands change, giving operations managers the flexibility to adapt without costly structural alterations.

Curtain Features

Clear Vision Panels

Vision panels can be added to allow for a clear line
of sight through the curtain. The panels can be made
taller or shorter per your request.

Curtain Valances

A valance is made from the same material as the
lower curtain. They are used to seal the opening
above the curtain. This is generally the space from
the roof deck to the bottom of the joist or purlin.
They can be rectangular or follow the roof's slope.

Floor Sweeps

A floor sweep seals the open area between the
curtain and the floor. It attaches to the main
curtain by Velcro. They are as wide as the entire
length of the curtain. These are ideal for controlling
dust, fumes, odors and other undesirable elements.
They can also be replaced in the future should the
friction from the floor wear them out.

Anchor Straps

Velcro straps hold your curtain in place if a
breeze or if a more secure curtain is needed.
These anchors feature Velcro straps that loop
through a D-ring, which is anchored into the
cement floor. Typically spaced every 1.2m.

Seal Velcro

Seal Velcro, also known as adhesive Velcro, sticks
onto your curtain and can be installed in the field.
Please note that stick-on velcro is not ideal for
cold temperature applications or high-frequency
use.

Chain Weights

If you have a slight breeze or are power washing
near the curtain, then we can add a galvanized
lightweight chain weight to the bottom of the
curtain.

Connecting Curtains

Velcro

Velcro is used to connect curtain sections
together to form larger curtain walls. The
Velcro also serves as an access point for
larger curtains and makes them easier to
install.

Magnets

Seal magnets are an ideal way to attach curtains
to each other or adjacent steel walls and beams.
Best utilized in dusty areas that would clog up
Velcro.

Entry Options

industrial-curtain-options (5)

Sewn-In Strip Doors

Strip doors that are sewn into the curtain are
ideal for light foot traffic. This allows for quick
movement of people into and out of the
industrial curtains.

Free-Standing Strip Doors

For motorized traffic, a free-standing steel frame
strip door is ideal. The steel frame takes the
stress off of the curtain wall, ensuring longevity
and performance for motor traffic and high use.

Swinging Impact Doors

A free-standing industrial swinging door can
also be provided for access. Also known as
impact doors, these heavy-duty doors can
take a lot of abuse from carts, forklifts, or
heavy foot traffic.  View Styles

Roll-Up Doors

Supported with a free-standing steel frame,
the power roll-up doors can be opened and
closed via remote from a forklift. Door
styles and prices vary based on the frequency
of opening and closing, speed requirements,
and size.  View Styles

See the button below.

How to Measure

Width

  • Measure the distance that you are trying to cover
    • We will generally add 5% to this dimension to give your curtain a proper drape.
    • When you receive your quote, the hardware width shown will be the actual overall width.

Height

  • Measure the distance from the floor to the mounting point
    • We will subtract 7cm to allow for the hardware and keep your curtain just off the ground.
      • If you choose the floor sweep option, we still subtract 7cm. This allows the floor sweep to sit lightly on the floor while the main curtain hangs just above it.
      • If you have a sloped ceiling, please provide the high-point height and the low-point height. We will assume a straight, linear slope. More Info Here On Sloped Ceilings

Common Questions

What is the spacing from the bottom of the track to the top of the curtain?
Standard curtains have a gap of approximately 2–2.5 cm between the bottom of the track and the top of the curtain.

Spacing from Track

What are the dimensions of the track?

Can the track be cut to size on site?
Yes. The track is designed to be cut on site using a hacksaw or a Sawzall.

How much width does the radius corner add to the length?
The radius corner is 61 cm in diameter. It will add approximately 61 cm to each dimension.
For example, if you have 305 cm of curtain track, adding a radius corner will make the overall length of side “A” about 366 cm.

How does the track go together?
The track is modular and will arrive in sections with a simple bolt-together design.

How close together do I need the track supports?
Track supports should typically be spaced approximately every 1.5 m. The farther apart the supports are, the more the track may deflect. For shorter curtains, supports can sometimes be spaced a little farther apart. You will receive enough support brackets with your order to achieve this 1.5 m spacing.

Can I simply drill straight through the track and into the ceiling / structure?
Yes. This is called a flush-mount installation and is very common. Simply drill through the centre of the track and fix it into your structure using wood screws, bolts, Tek screws, etc. Space the fixings roughly every 0.9–1.5 m.

How hard is it to install the industrial curtain track?
Installation is straightforward. All components fit together and are secured with set screws. The process is intuitive, but if you have any difficulty, simply call or email us and we will guide you through it.

Will the track rust? Can it be used in wet environments?
The track is hot-dip galvanised (HDG), a process commonly used to protect steel from corrosion in demanding environments. It offers maintenance-free longevity for decades. The corrosion rate of hot-dip galvanised steel is typically about 1/30 that of bare steel in the same environment.
