Cons:
- Heavy and less portable: Compared to fabric backdrops, they can be heavier and less portable and more difficult to fold up when not needed.
- More reflective: Vinyl backdrops will give off more glare than fabric. This could be considered a drawback or an advantage depending on how you want your photos to look.
- Wrinkles: Vinyl automobile photo backgrounds are going to have more wrinkles in them from shipping which is required as they have to be folded. The wrinkles will will relax over time.

- Glare: Fabric is no reflective so it does not give off any glare like a vinyl material would.
- No wrinkles: Fabric material does not wrinkles like vinyl material (or is very minimal). If the material does have wrinkles from shipping or storage they can be quickly taken out with a handheld steamer.
Cons:
- Less robust: Fabric backgrounds could be more prone to ripping, fraying, and general wear and tear.
- Maintenance: They can need washing, ironing, making maintenance more time-consuming if you get them dirty.
- Water-resistant: They are typically not water-resistant which makes them less ideal for outdoor events or circumstances where spills could occur.
