Common Questions

Which material should I choose?

If you are trying to choose between the 18oz and 12oz vinyl materials, please choose based on your environment. For regular weather conditions, 12 oz. vinyl is a great material at a slightly less expensive price. If you are going to experience heavy weather conditions such as heavy snow, heavy rain, and lots of wind, then please choose the 18 oz. vinyl material.

What is the most common material?

The 18 ounce vinyl is used to make 90% of the covers ALCO offers. Even though both materials are equally strong and look the same, the majority of customers pick the thicker material.

Are they easy to clean?

Yes. Contrary to other polyester covers that resemble canvas, vinyl is a material that is extremely slick and is therefore simple to clean. Canvas will capture and hold mold and stains that are difficult to remove, as opposed to the sleek ALCO Vinyl custom furniture covers.

How strong are the covers?

18 oz vinyl is a very strong and long-lasting material, in fact, it is the same material that is used on the semi trailers to cover their cargo! As you can imagine, the abuse the material can endure on the highway is extreme, and if they didn't hold up, the truckers would not use them. That is why 18 oz vinyl is one of the strongest covers that you can purchase.

My cover will be used indoors. Which material is ideal?

The 600D material is the perfect material for indoors or even outdoors if its mostly in the shade and not in harsh conditions.

Common Questions

Hammock Covers – Style 1 — Frequently Asked Questions

How do I measure my hammock and stand for a perfect fit?

Measure the maximum length (Side A), height at the center or highest point (Side B), and width/depth (Sides C–E if shown) at the widest areas, including spreader bars, hooks, or wheels you want covered. Enter exact inches—AKON adds slack on all sides except height.

Which material should I choose—12oz or 18oz vinyl?

12oz vinyl is a durable, economical, all-weather option for typical conditions. 18oz vinyl is thicker and recommended for harsh wind, heavy rain/snow, long UV exposure, or coastal sites.

Are the covers waterproof and UV resistant?

Yes. Our industrial vinyl is fully waterproof and resists UV fading and cracking for year-round outdoor use.

Can I cover the hammock when it’s damp after rain?

Let the hammock drip-dry and brush off standing water first. Trapping moisture can encourage mildew on the hammock fabrics (the vinyl cover itself wipes clean and does not absorb water).

Will the cover fit frames with curved or A-frame ends?

Yes. Measure to the furthest points and upload a photo if geometry is unusual. We tailor patterns to curved frames, A-frames, and stands with wheels.

What are tie-downs and do I need them?

Tie-downs (e.g., hem straps, grommets, or elastic cord) secure the cover to the stand and reduce billowing. They’re recommended for windy locations and open decks.

What are cover splits and when should I add them?

Cover splits are vertical openings that allow partial access or make removal easier around fixed posts or chains. Add them if your hammock is tight to a wall or has protrusions.

How do I clean pollen, bird droppings, or sunscreen residue?

Wipe with mild soap and water, rinse, and air-dry. Avoid bleach, abrasives, pressure washers, and solvent-based cleaners to preserve the welded seams.

Can I leave the cover on all winter?

Yes. Both 12oz and 18oz vinyl are suitable for winter. For frequent heavy snow, choose 18oz and brush off accumulation periodically to prevent loading.

What colours are available?

Black, Brown, Blue, White, Tan, Red, Navy Blue, Yellow, Olive Green, and Gray (availability depends on chosen material weight).

Can I add my logo or text (e.g., property name or unit #)?

Yes. Use the Upload Reference Image and Special Request fields to request branding or labeling. We’ll review artwork during order confirmation.

What is the typical lead time and shipping policy?

Standard lead time is 10–12 work days after approval. Free shipping applies to orders over $150.

What warranty do the covers include?

Vinyl covers include a 5-year warranty when used as intended.

Will the vinyl scratch painted or powder-coated frames?

No. The interior surface is smooth. Ensure the stand is clean before covering to avoid trapped grit.

Do you offer volume pricing for resorts or multi-property orders?

Absolutely. Request a custom quote for bulk orders—we can standardize sizes, colours, tie-downs, and branding across your properties.
