Which material should I choose?
If you are trying to choose between the 18oz and 12oz vinyl materials, please choose based on your environment. For regular weather conditions, 12 oz. vinyl is a great material at a slightly less expensive price. If you are going to experience heavy weather conditions such as heavy snow, heavy rain, and lots of wind, then please choose the 18 oz. vinyl material.
What is the most common material?
The 18 ounce vinyl is used to make 90% of the covers ALCO offers. Even though both materials are equally strong and look the same, the majority of customers pick the thicker material.
Are they easy to clean?
Yes. Contrary to other polyester covers that resemble canvas, vinyl is a material that is extremely slick and is therefore simple to clean. Canvas will capture and hold mold and stains that are difficult to remove, as opposed to the sleek ALCO Vinyl custom furniture covers.
How strong are the covers?
18 oz vinyl is a very strong and long-lasting material, in fact, it is the same material that is used on the semi trailers to cover their cargo! As you can imagine, the abuse the material can endure on the highway is extreme, and if they didn't hold up, the truckers would not use them. That is why 18 oz vinyl is one of the strongest covers that you can purchase.

The 600D material is the perfect material for indoors or even outdoors if its mostly in the shade and not in harsh conditions.

Do you still offer canvas covers?
No. Traditional canvas covers have been replaced by higher-quality custom vinyl covers. Vinyl lasts longer, is easier to clean and performs better in wet European weather.
What material has replaced the canvas covers?
The old canvas range has been replaced with durable PVC vinyl and curtain-grade vinyl materials. These provide better resistance to rain, dirt, UV exposure and everyday wear.
Do you make the covers to my exact size?
Yes. Each cover is made to your exact length, width and height. Enter the measurements in centimetres or millimetres and we add a small allowance so the cover fits neatly without being too tight.
Should I choose 12oz or 18oz vinyl?
Choose 12oz vinyl for normal conditions such as sheltered patios, light commercial use or moderate weather. Select 18oz vinyl for exposed areas, heavy use, frequent handling or harsher conditions with strong wind and heavy rain.
Are the vinyl covers waterproof and UV resistant?
Yes. The vinyl surface is highly water-resistant and stops rain from soaking through. It is also UV-stable to help prevent fading, cracking and degradation when used outdoors over time.
Can the covers be used outdoors all year round?
Yes. The custom vinyl covers are designed for year-round outdoor use in European climates. They help protect against rain, frost, light snow, bird droppings and general pollution. In severe storms we recommend securing or temporarily removing the covers.
How strong are the vinyl covers compared to canvas?
The 18oz vinyl is extremely strong and long-lasting. It is similar to the material used on lorry and trailer tarpaulins, designed to withstand constant movement and weather on the road. This makes it more durable than traditional canvas covers.
Are the covers suitable for indoor use as well?
Yes. The covers work very well indoors to keep equipment, furniture and machinery dust free. For indoor or shaded outdoor areas you can also use lighter-weight materials where offered, such as 600D fabric grades.
How easy are the vinyl covers to clean?
Vinyl has a smooth, non-porous surface which makes it very easy to clean. Most dirt and marks can be wiped away with a cloth, mild soap and lukewarm water. Unlike canvas, it does not easily hold stains or mould.
How do I measure for a custom vinyl cover?
Measure the maximum length, width and height of the item in centimetres, including any handles, arms or parts that stick out. Enter these measurements in the form. The system will use them to create a tailored cover for your shape selection.
How are the covers secured so they do not blow away?
You can choose from options such as elasticated hems, tie-down straps with buckles, webbing belts, or eyelets for cords or bungees. These fixings help keep the cover in place in windy conditions.
What colours are available?
Standard vinyl colours include Black, Brown, Blue, White, Tan, Red, Navy Blue, Yellow, Olive Green and Grey. Other colours may be possible for larger or repeated orders; please ask if you have a specific requirement.
Will the cover cause condensation or mould underneath?
The vinyl itself does not create mould, but moisture can build up if there is no airflow. For best results, choose a cover slightly shorter than the item so air can circulate, and occasionally lift or remove the cover to let everything dry out fully.
What is the usual lead time, delivery area and warranty?
Typical production time is around 10–12 working days. Delivery is available across Ireland and the wider EU. Vinyl covers come with a multi-year warranty against manufacturing and material defects.
