Water-Resistant Seams

When buying custom industrial-fit covers, you want to be sure they will keep your possessions safe, clean, and dry. But did you know that when fabric is sewn, the needle creates tiny holes that can leave your cover vulnerable to leaks? Big box stores rarely mention that their covers can leak at these stitching points during heavy rain, causing drip marks on your equipment. That is why ALCO offers water-resistant seam sealing, which protects the stitching on the inside of the cover so rain and moisture cannot penetrate and damage your items.

Our Covers Are Water-Resistant

Our covers use high-grade vinyl to prevent water pooling and penetration. While the material blocks external moisture, we cannot guarantee that condensation or humidity will not accumulate from underneath the cover. To avoid trapped moisture, it is recommended to choose a cover that has a snug fit and is slightly shorter than the item being protected, allowing air circulation at the base.

Use Vinyl And Not Fabric Covers

The best protection against water comes from vinyl covers, which ALCO specialises in. Vinyl allows water droplets to bead and run off the surface before they have time to soak through. Polyester blends are also commonly used, but their waterproof coatings can wear away, become brittle, and crack over time. This allows pooled water to seep through, leaving the cover damp after rainfall. This exposure can lead to damage, costly repairs, or the need for a replacement cover.

Many custom industrial covers on the market claim to be “waterproof,” but in practice, most only withstand light drizzle. When exposed to heavy rain, the items beneath can become wet. It is essential to choose a material capable of handling severe weather conditions. ALCO offers high-grade vinyls designed to stand up to the elements!

Tie Downs

Standard off-the-shelf industrial covers often lack proper tie-downs to secure them. But what happens when harsh weather brings strong or gusty winds? Without a way to fasten or tighten the cover at the base, it can easily blow away. If you are not present at the time, the cover could detach completely and leave your equipment exposed to the elements. This can result in costly damage or even full replacement of the item. For this reason, it is essential to choose industrial covers that include secure tie-down options.
