Common Questions
Which material should I choose?
If you are trying to choose between the 18oz and 12oz vinyl materials, please choose based on your environment. For regular weather conditions, 12 oz. vinyl is a great material at a slightly less expensive price. If you are going to experience heavy weather conditions such as heavy snow, heavy rain, and lots of wind, then please choose the 18 oz. vinyl material.
What is the most common material?
The 18 ounce vinyl is used to make 90% of the covers ALCO offers. Even though both materials are equally strong and look the same, the majority of customers pick the thicker material.
Are they easy to clean?
Yes. Contrary to other polyester covers that resemble canvas, vinyl is a material that is extremely slick and is therefore simple to clean. Canvas will capture and hold mold and stains that are difficult to remove, as opposed to the sleek ALCO Vinyl custom furniture covers.
How strong are the covers?
18 oz vinyl is a very strong and long-lasting material, in fact, it is the same material that is used on the semi trailers to cover their cargo! As you can imagine, the abuse the material can endure on the highway is extreme, and if they didn't hold up, the truckers would not use them. That is why 18 oz vinyl is one of the strongest covers that you can purchase.
My cover will be used indoors. Which material is ideal?
The 600D material is the perfect material for indoors or even outdoors if its mostly in the shade and not in harsh conditions.
Common Questions
Machine Covers — Frequently Asked Questions
Do you make machine covers to my exact size?
Yes. Each machine cover is made to your exact length, width and height. Enter the precise dimensions in millimetres or centimetres and we add allowance for a neat fit.
Which material should I choose for my machine cover?
12oz vinyl is a robust, waterproof option for most indoor and outdoor applications. Heavier vinyl grades are ideal for harsh industrial environments or frequent handling.
Are the machine covers waterproof and UV resistant?
Yes. The vinyl materials are water-resistant and UV-stable. They shed rain, protect from splashes and help prevent fading or degradation from sunlight.
Can the covers be used outdoors all year round?
Yes. The industrial vinyl is designed for year-round European weather, including rain, wind and occasional snow. For full exposure, we recommend the heavier vinyl options.
Will the cover protect from dust, dirt and debris?
Absolutely. When fitted correctly, the cover forms a continuous barrier against dust, metal shavings, overspray and general debris, helping to keep machines clean between shifts.
How do the covers stay secure on the machine?
You can choose from elasticated hems, tie-down straps with buckles, webbing belts, or eyelets for cord or bungee. These options prevent the cover lifting in draughty areas.
Are the covers easy to fit and remove?
Yes. The covers remain flexible and lightweight. Simply pull the cover over the machine and secure the chosen fastenings. Optional zips or splits make handling even easier.
Can I add zips, flaps or openings for access?
Yes. We can add vertical or horizontal zips, roll-up flaps or hook-and-loop panels so you can access control panels, doors or inspection points without removing the whole cover.
Can the covers be used around production lines and warehouses?
Yes. The covers are suitable for factories, workshops and warehouses. They help protect idle machines, spares and tools from dust, overspray and accidental damage.
What colours are available?
Standard vinyl colours include Black, Brown, Blue, White, Tan, Red, Navy, Yellow, Olive Green and Grey. Other colours can be supplied for larger or repeat orders.
How do I measure my machine for a cover?
Measure the maximum length, width and height of the machine in centimetres, including guards, handles and any protruding parts. Use the How to Measure guide as a reference.
How do I clean and maintain the cover?
Clean with mild soap and lukewarm water, then rinse and allow to air-dry. Avoid harsh chemicals, solvents, abrasive pads and machine washing to preserve the surface.
What is the typical lead time, delivery area and warranty?
Production usually takes 10–12 working days. Delivery is available across Ireland and the EU. Vinyl covers include a multi-year warranty against material defects.
Are the materials fire retardant?
Yes. Fire-retardant grades are available that meet common European and international fire standards. Please mention any specific certification requirements in your enquiry.
Can I get a quote or discount for multiple covers?
Yes. For project quantities or repeat orders, use the Request a Quote button or contact form to receive volume pricing and tailored options for your site.
