Choose a Style

Standard

Standard insulated industrial door curtain cover custom sized to fit door opening, reinforced vinyl curtain offering insulation and flexible installation options.

Standard Insulated Door Covers

Insulated door covers are produced to any size and configuration you require. Each cover is bespoke-made to match your precise doorway dimensions, offering a practical alternative to conventional doors that is faster to install, reposition, or store. To order your own custom insulated door curtain, click on the button below.

When designing an insulated door cover, we ensure it reliably blocks light, reduces noise, and helps manage indoor temperature. You can section off different areas without the expense and lead time of fitting standard doors. Should your needs change, the curtain door can be relocated or repurposed for other openings with minimal effort.

Build My Curtain

Premium

Premium accordion-style insulated door curtains with sealed insulation pockets, designed for easy folding and temperature control in industrial environments.

Premium Accordion Insulated Door Covers

AKON's premium door covers offer a refined appearance with exceptionally clean edges. The insulated cover folds in a controlled accordion fashion thanks to sealed pockets that contain the insulating batting, resulting in a tidier retraction and a more polished look when the cover is open.

These door covers provide a practical alternative to rigid doors—quicker to install, reposition, and store when not needed. Note: Vision windows cannot be fitted to this style of insulated door cover owing to the accordion folding method.

Build My Curtain

Oversize

Oversize insulated door curtain covers installed over a wide industrial doorway, heavy vinyl barriers providing comprehensive thermal separation.

Large Insulated Door Covers

Large door covers are an effective way to thermally enclose garages, workshops, warehouses, and other sizeable openings. Designed for both indoor and outdoor use, they completely seal large doorways and prevent temperature loss. Anchor straps that bolt to the floor keep the cover firmly in place, even in exposed conditions.

Every large door cover is bespoke-made to your exact width and height. They offer a faster, more flexible alternative to permanent walls or roller shutters, and can be taken down or relocated whenever your requirements change.

Operation

Insulated door covers glide along a robust track system that folds the material neatly when the opening needs to be cleared. Several mounting styles are available: ceiling-fix, wall-face brackets, or suspension from threaded rod or chain for taller structures.

Full-height vertical Velcro is an optional addition for sealing to adjacent walls. Magnet or Velcro splits allow convenient walk-through access. Covers can slide side to side on the track or be fitted as a static panel.

Applications of Industrial Insulated Curtains

Applications

  • Cold store and freezer door covers
  • Walk-in chiller and cooler openings
  • Industrial cold room doorway separation
  • Temperature zoning between connected areas
  • Insulated garage door cover
  • Insulated warehouse door
  • Workshop and trade unit door barriers

R-Values To Choose From

Thick gray vinyl insulated warehouse door

Temperature Control R-Values

Two R-Value options are available for our insulated door covers. R-Value measures a material's ability to resist heat flow—the higher the figure, the greater the insulating performance. If the door cover will be in place long-term, a higher R-Value typically delivers the best return through ongoing energy savings. For shorter-term or seasonal use, the lower R-Value provides effective separation at a reduced cost.

  • R3 – Standard Separation – Retractable and Stationary
  • R6 – High Separation – Retractable and Stationary

Control Air Flow

Close-up of a floor sweep accessory for insulated outdoor curtains to seal bottom edges and improve temperature control.

Floor Engagement

Cold air will inevitably seep beneath any door cover that stops short of the floor, reducing the effectiveness of your thermal barrier. A floor sweep solves this by creating a physical seal between the base of the curtain and the ground surface, controlling airflow between temperature zones.

The 20 cm sweep attaches with Velcro and hangs below the curtain to block draughts. It can be replaced over time or swapped for a taller or shorter version if the door cover moves to a location with a different threshold height. This is especially important for insulated garage door covers, where external temperature has a direct impact on the space behind.

Common Questions about Insulated Door Curtains

Which R-value is right for my doorway—R3 or R6?

R3 suits most standard separations. For colder environments, longer-term installations, or maximum thermal performance, R6 delivers a stronger return on investment.

What styles of insulated door cover are available?

Three main variants: Standard (flexible curtain), Premium Accordion (neat folding, clean edges), and Oversize (engineered for large warehouse or garage openings).

Can the covers be made to non-standard sizes?

Yes. Every cover is manufactured to your exact doorway dimensions, from compact personnel doors through to oversized roller-shutter openings.

What materials are used in construction?

18 oz reinforced vinyl outer skins with a polyester scrim and a poly-fibre insulation core. The batting is stitched to prevent settling and maintain R-value over time.

Which mounting options are offered?

Galvanised track with nylon roller trolleys for sliding operation, or a static grommet mount for fixed panel installations. Suspension from rod or chain is also available.

How is the base of the door cover sealed?

A 20 cm floor sweep attaches via Velcro and hangs below the curtain to engage the floor and block draughts or air leakage.

Can accessories and access points be added?

Yes. Options include valances, anchor straps, magnets, chain weights, sewn-in or free-standing strip doors, swinging impact doors, and powered roll-up sections.

Are outdoor-rated versions available?

Outdoor-ready vinyl skins and corrosion-resistant hardware are available. Oversize covers can also be fitted with anchor straps for additional wind resistance.

What warranty is included?

Hardware carries a lifetime warranty and curtain panels carry a 5-year indoor warranty. Outdoor warranty terms vary—contact us for specifics.

Industrial Curtain Hanging Options

  • Aluminum Angle - Use with self tapping Tek screws to pinch the curtain to the angle.
  • Grommets Only - You can then use many DIY methods to hang the curtains.
  • Beam Clamps - Clamps onto the flange of beams, joists, and purlins.
How to Measure

Width

  • Measure the distance that you are trying to cover
    • We will generally add 5% to this dimension to give your curtain a proper drape.
    • When you receive your quote, the hardware width shown will be the actual overall width.

Height

  • Measure the distance from the floor to the mounting point
    • We will subtract 7.62 cm to allow for the hardware and keep your curtain just off the ground.
      • If you choose the floor sweep option, we still subtract 7.62 cm. This allows the floor sweep to sit lightly on the floor while the main curtain hangs just above it.
      • If you have a sloped ceiling, please provide the high-point height and the low-point height. We will assume a straight, linear slope. More Info Here On Sloped Ceilings

Common Questions

What is the spacing from the bottom of the track to the top of the curtain?
Standard curtains have a gap of approximately 2–2.5 cm between the bottom of the track and the top of the curtain.

Spacing from Track

What are the dimensions of the track?

Can the track be cut to size on site?
Yes. The track is designed to be cut on site using a hacksaw or a Sawzall.

How much width does the radius corner add to the length?
The radius corner is 61 cm (24") in diameter. It will add approximately 61 cm (2 ft) to each dimension.
For example, if you have 305 cm (120") of curtain track, adding a radius corner will make the overall length of side “A” about 366 cm (144").

How does the track go together?
The track is modular and will arrive in sections with a simple bolt-together design.

How close together do I need the track supports?
Track supports should typically be spaced approximately every 1.5 m. The farther apart the supports are, the more the track may deflect. For shorter curtains, supports can sometimes be spaced a little farther apart. You will receive enough support brackets with your order to achieve this 1.5 m spacing.

Can I simply drill straight through the track and into the ceiling / structure?
Yes. This is called a flush-mount installation and is very common. Simply drill through the centre of the track and fix it into your structure using wood screws, bolts, Tek screws, etc. Space the fixings roughly every 0.9–1.5 m.

How hard is it to install the industrial curtain track?
Installation is straightforward. All components fit together and are secured with set screws. The process is intuitive, but if you have any difficulty, simply call or email us and we will guide you through it.

Will the track rust? Can it be used in wet environments?
The track is hot-dip galvanised (HDG), a process commonly used to protect steel from corrosion in demanding environments. It offers maintenance-free longevity for decades. The corrosion rate of hot-dip galvanised steel is typically about 1/30 that of bare steel in the same environment.
Curtains

Outer Layers

The outer layers of our insulated curtains are made of both 13 oz and 18 oz vinyl, which is reinforced with a polyester scrim. It is a waterproof fabric that is easy to wash down should it become dirty. The material will not absorb liquids and stains, so it will look great for many years. 18 oz coated vinyl is ideal for outdoor use, with temperatures as low as -20° F (-28° C).

Inner Batting

The interior insulation is polyfiber, not fiberglass. The material is wedged between the skins and stitched in place so it will not settle to the bottom. The insulated thermal garage curtains get their insulating properties from the air space created by the batting.

Features

Curtain Features

Curtain Valances

A valance is made from the same material as the
lower curtain. They are used to seal the opening
above the curtain. This is generally the space from
the roof deck to the bottom of the joist or purlin.
They can be rectangular or follow the roof's slope.

Floor Sweeps

A floor sweep seals the open area between the
curtain and the floor. It attaches to the main
curtain by Velcro. They are as wide as the entire
length of the curtain. These are ideal for controlling
dust, fumes, odors and other undesirable elements.
They can also be replaced in the future should the
friction from the floor wear them out.

Anchor Straps

Velcro straps hold your curtain in place if a
breeze or if a more secure curtain is needed.
These anchors feature Velcro straps that loop
through a D-ring, which is anchored into the
cement floor. Typically spaced every 1.2 m.

Seal Velcro

Seal Velcro, also known as adhesive Velcro, sticks
onto your curtain and can be installed in the field.
Please note that stick-on velcro is not ideal for
cold temperature applications or high-frequency
use.

Chain Weights

If you have a slight breeze or are power washing
near the curtain, then we can add a galvanized
lightweight chain weight to the bottom of the
curtain.

Connecting Curtains

Velcro

Velcro is used to connect curtain sections
together to form larger curtain walls. The
Velcro also serves as an access point for
larger curtains and makes them easier to
install.

Entry Options

industrial-curtain-options (5)

Sewn-In Strip Doors

Strip doors that are sewn into the curtain are
ideal for light foot traffic. This allows for quick
movement of people into and out of the
industrial curtains.

Free-Standing Strip Doors

For motorized traffic, a free-standing steel frame
strip door is ideal. The steel frame takes the
stress off of the curtain wall, ensuring longevity
and performance for motor traffic and high use.

Swinging Impact Doors

A free-standing industrial swinging door can
also be provided for access. Also known as
impact doors, these heavy-duty doors can
take a lot of abuse from carts, forklifts, or
heavy foot traffic. View Styles

Roll-Up Doors

Supported with a free-standing steel frame,
the power roll-up doors can be opened and
closed via remote from a forklift. Door
styles and prices vary based on the frequency
of opening and closing, speed requirements,
and size. View Styles

FAQ

How much more expensive are industrial insulated curtains than standard curtains?
Our industrial insulated curtains are about 3x the investment of our standard industrial curtains. Customers often ask if they should just purchase a standard curtain to save money. Our answer is generally based on how long you intend to use the curtain. For instance, if you plan to use the divider curtain for many years, you will recoup your investment through energy savings. If you plan to use the curtain for only one or two seasons, you could save money by going with the standard curtains. Keep in mind that the standard industrial curtains have an R1 insulation value.

What is R Value?
The insulation value of a thermally insulated curtain wall is measured by what is called an R-value. In basic terms, R-value is the capacity of an insulating material to resist heat flow. The higher the R-value, the greater the insulating power. AKON provides R3 and R6 insulated industrial curtains.

Should I choose R3 or R6?
We find R3 is a good fit for most applications. The longer you need them and the colder your location is, the more we recommend the R6 material.

When the curtains are folded up, how much space do they occupy?
The insulated industrial curtains fold up to about 6.5 cm per metre of curtain width. So a 3 m wide curtain would fold up to approximately 64 cm.
