Choose a Style
Standard
Standard Insulated Door Covers
Insulated door covers are produced to any size and configuration you require. Each cover is bespoke-made to match your precise doorway dimensions, offering a practical alternative to conventional doors that is faster to install, reposition, or store. To order your own custom insulated door curtain, click on the button below.
When designing an insulated door cover, we ensure it reliably blocks light, reduces noise, and helps manage indoor temperature. You can section off different areas without the expense and lead time of fitting standard doors. Should your needs change, the curtain door can be relocated or repurposed for other openings with minimal effort.
Premium
Premium Accordion Insulated Door Covers
AKON's premium door covers offer a refined appearance with exceptionally clean edges. The insulated cover folds in a controlled accordion fashion thanks to sealed pockets that contain the insulating batting, resulting in a tidier retraction and a more polished look when the cover is open.
These door covers provide a practical alternative to rigid doors—quicker to install, reposition, and store when not needed. Note: Vision windows cannot be fitted to this style of insulated door cover owing to the accordion folding method.
Oversize
Large Insulated Door Covers
Large door covers are an effective way to thermally enclose garages, workshops, warehouses, and other sizeable openings. Designed for both indoor and outdoor use, they completely seal large doorways and prevent temperature loss. Anchor straps that bolt to the floor keep the cover firmly in place, even in exposed conditions.
Every large door cover is bespoke-made to your exact width and height. They offer a faster, more flexible alternative to permanent walls or roller shutters, and can be taken down or relocated whenever your requirements change.
Folds Up and Stores Nicely
Operation
Insulated door covers glide along a robust track system that folds the material neatly when the opening needs to be cleared. Several mounting styles are available: ceiling-fix, wall-face brackets, or suspension from threaded rod or chain for taller structures.
Full-height vertical Velcro is an optional addition for sealing to adjacent walls. Magnet or Velcro splits allow convenient walk-through access. Covers can slide side to side on the track or be fitted as a static panel.
Applications of Industrial Insulated Curtains
Applications
- Cold store and freezer door covers
- Walk-in chiller and cooler openings
- Industrial cold room doorway separation
- Temperature zoning between connected areas
- Insulated garage door cover
- Insulated warehouse door
- Workshop and trade unit door barriers
R-Values To Choose From
Temperature Control R-Values
Two R-Value options are available for our insulated door covers. R-Value measures a material's ability to resist heat flow—the higher the figure, the greater the insulating performance. If the door cover will be in place long-term, a higher R-Value typically delivers the best return through ongoing energy savings. For shorter-term or seasonal use, the lower R-Value provides effective separation at a reduced cost.
- R3 – Standard Separation – Retractable and Stationary
- R6 – High Separation – Retractable and Stationary
Control Air Flow
Floor Engagement
Cold air will inevitably seep beneath any door cover that stops short of the floor, reducing the effectiveness of your thermal barrier. A floor sweep solves this by creating a physical seal between the base of the curtain and the ground surface, controlling airflow between temperature zones.
The 20 cm sweep attaches with Velcro and hangs below the curtain to block draughts. It can be replaced over time or swapped for a taller or shorter version if the door cover moves to a location with a different threshold height. This is especially important for insulated garage door covers, where external temperature has a direct impact on the space behind.
Common Questions about Insulated Door Curtains
Which R-value is right for my doorway—R3 or R6?
R3 suits most standard separations. For colder environments, longer-term installations, or maximum thermal performance, R6 delivers a stronger return on investment.
What styles of insulated door cover are available?
Three main variants: Standard (flexible curtain), Premium Accordion (neat folding, clean edges), and Oversize (engineered for large warehouse or garage openings).
Can the covers be made to non-standard sizes?
Yes. Every cover is manufactured to your exact doorway dimensions, from compact personnel doors through to oversized roller-shutter openings.
What materials are used in construction?
18 oz reinforced vinyl outer skins with a polyester scrim and a poly-fibre insulation core. The batting is stitched to prevent settling and maintain R-value over time.
Which mounting options are offered?
Galvanised track with nylon roller trolleys for sliding operation, or a static grommet mount for fixed panel installations. Suspension from rod or chain is also available.
How is the base of the door cover sealed?
A 20 cm floor sweep attaches via Velcro and hangs below the curtain to engage the floor and block draughts or air leakage.
Can accessories and access points be added?
Yes. Options include valances, anchor straps, magnets, chain weights, sewn-in or free-standing strip doors, swinging impact doors, and powered roll-up sections.
Are outdoor-rated versions available?
Outdoor-ready vinyl skins and corrosion-resistant hardware are available. Oversize covers can also be fitted with anchor straps for additional wind resistance.
What warranty is included?
Hardware carries a lifetime warranty and curtain panels carry a 5-year indoor warranty. Outdoor warranty terms vary—contact us for specifics.
