What Makes Our Furnace Curtains Special?

Curtain Materials

There are different materials to choose from depending on your specific requirements. You can go for a reflective surface which will redirect external radiant heat away from your associates or equipment. You can also choose materials which can hold the heat in and improve efficiency. Our heat-resistant furnace curtains can be as small as 6” x 6” and as big as 200’ x 50’.

Here is the full list of options we offer:

  • Model CDH-1000: Acrylic Coated Fiberglass – 24 oz. / .035″ thick
  • Model CDH-2000: Coated fiberglass
  • Model CDH-3000: Coated fiberglass / aluminized kevlar – .100″ thick
  • Model CDH-4000: Coated fiberglass / aluminized kevlar – .250″ thick
  • Models CDH-5000 and CDH-6000: Coated fiberglass both sides – .250″ thick

Mounting Options

There are a few different ways of hanging the furnace curtains. They can include industrial curtain tracks which allow the curtains to roll open for ease of access or static position mounts for fixed-in-place curtains.

Here are the three most common mounts our clients prefer to use:

  • A static mount which uses angle iron that is attached to the existing structure and then attached to the curtain via the grommets. The grommets are located at the top; once every 12 inches
  • A track and trolley design which uses steel rollers to roll the curtain side to side
  • A steel aircraft cable is strung between two points and allows the curtain to be supported with steel S-Hooks

In addition to the curtain, you can order industrial curtain tracks to support them. The industrial tracks use high grade galvanized steel which can endure these high heat environments for long periods of time. The most common applications are furnaces and coke ovens.

How Do Our Curtains Compare To Steel Curtains?

Some customers are familiar with steel furnace curtains and might not be aware of their drawbacks. They do not do a very good job of reflecting heat back into the oven. They are porous and allow hot air to escape easily which decreases the efficiency of the furnace. Steel furnace curtains also cost a lot and might not be suitable for all budgets.
